Animal Use Training Instructions
Print two copies of all certificates of completion, keep one for your records and submit the other to your Service Training Coordinator (STC): Angela Hare, Main VA Building, 6th floor room# 6002, email angela.hare@va.gov or fax to: 858-552-7436. For Questions call Angela Hare: 858-552-8585 x5980.
What is the required training?
•VMU Animal Orientation (required upon initial appointment to a animal use protocol contact Jamie (jamie.gothro@va.gov)
•Working with the VA IACUC
•Working with Species Specific Training (Example: Working With Mice)
Who has to take the training?
•Personnel who participate in or supervise research that involves laboratory animals. If personnel participate in or supervise animal procedures conducted at the VAMC, work with animals purchased with VA funds regardless of performance location, or work with animals during VA duty hours, regardless of location, they must complete the CITI web-based training annually.
How do you take it?
•If you do not remember your username and password:
–Click on: “New Users Register Here”
–Under “Select your institution or organization” go to Veterans Affairs and choose “San Diego, CA-664”
•Once you have logged in follow the instructions for registration. The system will ask you a series of questions that will lead you to the required courses listed above.
