What is the required training?

Working with the VA IACUC

Waste Anesthetic Gases Training

Working with Species Specific Training (Example: Working with Mice)

 

Who has to take the training?

Personnel who participate in or supervise research that involves laboratory animals. If personnel participate in or supervise animal procedures conducted at the VAMC, working with animals purchased with VA funds regardless of performance location, or work with animals during VA duty hours, regardless of location, they must complete the CITI web-based training anually.

 

How do you take it?

Log into the CITI Website using your existing login information:http://www.citiprogram.org
If you do not remember your username and password:
Click on: “New Users  Register Here”
Under  “Select your institution or organization” go to Veterans Affairs and choose “San Diego, CA-664”

Once you have logged in follow the instructions for registration. The system will ask you a series of questions that will lead you to the required courses listed above. .

 

 

How is my training recorded?

Once you have completed the training in CITI, the Research Staffing Office will receive an email notification and will update your training record.
