VMRF DONATION Policy

 
Purpose:

VMRF donation funds are administered according to a well-established policy and procedure. VMRF has an obligation to insure that appropriate indirect costs (IDC) are collected and dispensed on all funds intended for support of VA research or VMRF business purposes.

 

Definition:
A VMRF Donation is an unrestricted gift, payable to the Veterans Medical Research Foundation.  The donation may be designated in support of:

  • the Veterans Medical Research Foundation, or
  • the research of a named researcher, who must also be a VMRF Qualified Principal Investigator
  • other

Application:

R&D approval of VMRF acceptance of transfer funds from other VANPCs requires transfer of appropriate associated IDC at the prevailing VMRF IDC rate. Exceptions involving administrative adjustment of IDC rate by VMRF according to generally accepted standards are allowed.

 

VMRF acceptance of unrestricted funds from a University, or an NPC, or any other organization are subject to 4% IDC charge.

 

Bona fide private donations may be accepted up to $10,000 without IDC, and at 4% for all funds over $10,000 per year.

 

Large donations or transfers imposing significant administrative expenses to VMRF may require adjustment of IDC to the prevailing rate.

 

VMRF reserves the right to not accept a donation.
